    The Constitutional government in Texas began with the Mexican Federal Constitution of 1824, but resembled more the Spanish Constitution of 1812. This new constitution was written close to the United States constitution. Many of the laws written in the constitution were meant for the immigration to Mexico. Even the Anglo Americans did not agree with this new constitution.

    This event abolished slavery through Mexico. No one exactly knows why he created this law, yet people thought it was used to help immigration. This news alerted the Texans and helped many people.

    This law was used to help immigration to Texas and Mexico. This law forbids slavery for the sake of population. Texas colonist were not happy with this decision, yet were fine.

    Colonist came to the mouth of the sabine river and asked to establish a new colony! There were many problems with ships and people, then a war broke out between the colonist and fellow people living there.

    The rebels had just found out that Santa Anna had led his army to a great victory. This made them angry, because they now had a new enemy. Instead of fighting them, they decided to join them. The Federalist had four resolutions made, but they all violated the constitution of 1824.

    This convention was held after the Battle of Velasco. Stephen F. Austin held this meeting, so they could adopt resolutions. They were to extend tariff exemptions, Modify the law of April 6, 1830, permit more immigration, and donate more land to make schools. However the resolutions were never shown to the Mexican government.

    In this convention William H. Wharton wanted a couple things to happen. To repeal the anti immigration law, more Indian adequate defense, judicial reform, improvement In mail service, sought tariff exemption, and pass resolutions prohibiting African American slave traffic in Texas. However the convention was adjourned April 13.

    Stephen F. Austin was mad that he didn't get his resolutions approved, so he went to talk to the Mexican government. They got very annoyed with him, and he was arrested for the suspicion of trying to incite insurrection in Texas.

    It was a debate between the opposing factions that wanted to continue a diplomatic relations with Mexico. One side was led by Stephen F. Austin, and the other by led by William Wharton and Henry Smith. There were three issues debated, the purpose
    of the war, the power and structure of government, and the virtues of different leaders. It ended well when they established a provisional government upon the principles of the Constitution of 1824.
