    Balanced the power in congress between slavery states and free states. This was a compromise of what states are free and which are not. This lead up to sectionalism because they're dividing the states between slavery states and free states. This was a bad idea because the slave states might want to expand and the free states might want everyone to be free

    Manifest destiny was the American government wanting to expand through the Pacific Ocean. This led to sectional tension because some states were considered slave states while others were considered free states.

    Texas was taken by America and California was bought. Both coming from Mexico. This would lead to sectionalism because the question of whether or not the two would become a slave state was being asked. What would either of them be?

    The Mexican American war was a battle over Texas. Mexico did not want to give America Texas so America attacked eventually winning. This led to civil tension because many would see this as unreasonable and wouldn’t agree with it. Those who saw it as wrong wouldn’t want to be with Texas.

    Series of violence political problems because of anti-slave this was between free states and slave states. This will led up to sectionalism because if the violence gets worse there will be a war between these people over slavery.

    Dred Scott was a slave who sued his “master because he was living in a free state considered to be a free slave. He was unsuccessful. This led to civil tension because more slaves would start to fight back as well as other people in free states would look down on slave states.
