In 1820, Henry clay forbindden slavery in Lousinana territory north of the missouri compromise line. To kep the union balance there one free state (maine) and one slave state (missouri). -
Wilmot Proviso
A bill proposed by David Wilmot outlawed slavery in claimed Mexico Territory. -
Compromise of 1850
The u.s wondered if they should or shouldnt make the new lands of Mexico a slave state or a slave free state. Bitter debate urged Henry to make his last great compromise and annouced California a free state, thus creating the Fugitive Slave Law. -
Fugitive Slave Act
A Law passed that southern slave owners could capture escaped slaves from the North. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
Stephn A. Dougless let the people vote for slavery in the south or for no slavery in the south. If the bill passed, this would get rid of the Mossuri Compromise. -
Bleeding Kansas
Many abolitionist killed slave owners. One of these abolitionist was, John Brown who led an unsuccessful raid on the federal armory. -
Dred Scott V. Sandford
Dred Scott, taken away from his freedom inn the North, sued for his freedom which the Supreme Court declined. -

Licoln, commended the Dred Scott decision and realized slaves were people too and went farther into seeing slavery as a sustain on Americas society.
