Lincoln is against slavery and does not want slavery to be a thing. Douglas is not wanted for the south but the south would rather want douglas rather than lincoln. All the slave states vote for anyone but Lincoln. The north likes lincoln so they vote for lincoln. But Lincoln wins the debate. -
