    Why:because of the Mexican American war had ended and politicians argued over what to do.
    Where: United states house of representatives.
    What: The Wilmot Proviso proposed an American law to ban slavery in territory acquired from Mexico in the Mexican War. The conflict over the Wilmot proviso was one of the major events leading to the American Civil War.
    How: The bill was passed in the House but not in the senate

    What: It was a act where it compelled Northerners to seize and return escaped slaves to the South. They even forced Southerners to help them and capture the slaves but they resisted.
