First Slaves
1619 was the first time slaves arrived to North America.The slaves arrived Jamestown, Virginia.Before slaves people would use indentured servants for work.The slaves arrived to North America by a mistake. This event led to the Civil war because slaves was a major cause for the Civil War and before this no one in North America had slaves. -
Missouri compromise of 1820
The Missouri compromise of 1820 was created by the Senate and stated that land from the Louisiana purchase north 36*30' will prohibit slavery. This event led to the Civil War because it will not solve the problem of slavery in new land it will only cover it up for a few years. -
Wilmot Proviso
The Wilmot Proviso was created by Pennsylvania congressman David Wilmot and stated that all land acquire from Mexico will banned slavery.This led to the Civil war because people from the north supported the Wilmot Proviso while the southerners did not wanted this to happen.The Civil war was the north against the south so the Wilmot Proviso angered the southern people. -
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo added a huge amount of land to the United States but most land was in the South.This event helped led to the Civil War by north getting mad because south will have more land. -
Compromise of 1850
The compromise of 1850 admits California as a free state and Utah and New Mexico as states that will be determine by popular sovereignty people will vote to decide if it's free or slave state.This helped cause the civil war by making people vote for slavery or no slavery and that caused some killings so people could intimidate people from the other side. -

The Fugitive Slave Act stated that whites should help return slaves back to their owner and it also said that slaves are not allowed to be trial by jury.This even helped caused the Civil war by making abolitionist angry. -

Uncle Tom's Cabin is a book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe that described how slaves were treated.This helped caused The Civil War by making slave owners mad because they don't treat their slaves like the book describes it. -
Potawatomie Creek Massacre
John Brown and four of his sons murder five pro slavery settlers.He did this to intimidate pro slavery followers.This helped led to the civil war because pro-slavery and abolitionist started killing. -
Abraham Lincoln Elected as President 1860
Many southerners hated Abraham Lincoln because he was a republican and a abolitionist. Southern settlers knew that he was going to do something about slavery, so that is why it helped led to the Civil War. -

South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas secede from the Union and create the Confederacy.This helped led to the Civil war because now we know what states the Union will fight.
