End of French and Indian war
The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war. In the Treaty of Paris, Britain gained control of land previously owned by the French.The French were driven out of North America by the British and the British also gained control of spanish florida. -
Sugar Act
On April 5,1764 Parliament passed a renewed version of the sugar and molasses act (1733)which was about to expire. -
Quartering Acts
In early 1765, Parliament passed the quartering acts, which was a law basically making colonists provide for the British soliders. -
The Stamp Act
In March 1765, Parliament passed the Stamp Act. The stamp act was a law that added tax to all paper goods. -
The Boston Massacre
On March 5,1770, a group of colonists threw snowballs and rocks at British soliders guarding the custom house.The soliders shot in to the crowd killing five colonists. -
The Tea Act
After the British Parliament dropped most of the Townshend Acts, they decided to keep a tax on tea but colonist continued to boycott British tea and continued to drink smuggled Dutch tea. -
The Boston tea party
The Boston Tea Party occured because colonistswere refusing to use British tea that was taxed. On the night of December 16,1773 boston patriots dressed as Native Americans and dumped tea off of British ships into the harbor. -
Intolerable acts
After the Boston tea party, parliment decided to punish colonists by closing ports for colonists, to house British soliders, etc. Colonists were mad at the British and decided to take action -
THe first Continental congress
In the fall of 1774 Representatives from every colony except for Georgia met in Philadelphia for The First Continental Congress.At the meeting,Representatives were declaring that they are american and not just colonists from Virginia,New York,Pennsylvania,etc. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington and Concord was started because John Hancock and other colonial leaders were trying to governed Mass without the help of Thomas Gage.So on April 19,1775 war erupted into towns outside of Boston.Thomas Gage started the battles by sending troops to arrest Hancock and Samuel Adams in Lexington and to seize weapon in Concord
