Proclamation of 1763
It was the proclamation that said the colonists could not go past the Appalachian Mountains. They didn't want people on Native land. The colonists were very mad because they fought a war to get the land and now they cant even put their finger on the grass of the west side of the mountains -
The Sugar Act (Pt-1)
The Sugar act was in place to add cost to non British materials so people would more likely to buy from their own government. The king could make more money off of his own people when people heard the news they started protesting against it. -
Stamp Act
You might have heard this quote before "No taxation without representation" well it was a quote from 1765. It was more of a slogan to colonists because of the Stamp act. The Stamp act was an enactment made to tax colonists for printed materials to be put on stamped paper and stuff like documents, cards and newspaper were of course printed materials so every newspaper, deck of cards and document was taxed by the British king, these acts were to help the king pay off a $140,000,000 debt from war. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act was used to help royal soldiers have a place to stay if the barracks were full. It allowed them to stay in empty buildings or homes if available. -
Boston Massacre (Pt-2)
During the protest someone from the crowd threw a rock at a guard and everything escalated x50, guards started shooting guns through the crowd and on that day 5 protesters were killed and 6 injured. People in the newspapers started giving headlines such as "The Boston Massacre" or "Guards protect themselves against protesters". -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston tea party happened because the colonists were mad that their tea was being taxed by someone not from their colony. Because of this, a group called the “Sons of Liberty” went to the Boston port and stole three ships called the Dartmouth, Eleanor and the Beaver. While on the ships the people dumbed over 40 tons of tea into the water. -
Boston Port Act
The Boston Port was closed until the money from the tea was recovered. The capital of Massachusetts was moved to Salem. Marblehead was made the official entrance to the Massachusetts colony. -
Massachusetts Regulating Act
This Act made all officers have to be appointed by the governor. No town meetings can be held unless the royal governor says so. -
Impartial Administration of Justice Act
This act allowed the governor to hold trials in other colonies if they think the jury will not hold a fair judgment. This is used because the jury could want to choose someone because they are from that colony or if they think the person does not deserve something even with the evidence. -
Quebec Act
This act gave religious freedom to catholics in Quebec. It also gave civilized government.
