End of the French and Indian War
The Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris on Febuary 10th, 1763 by England, France, and Spain. It granted England with all French land in Canada, The Great Lakes County, The Ohio River Valley and Florida. It granted Spain all French lands west of the Mississippi River, New Orleanes, but they lost Florida. France lost all possesions in North America. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was when Britain put taxes on any sugar or malasses imported into the 13 colonies in order to try and make up the debt from the French and Indian War. The colonist protested at first but, 2 years later they stopped because the taxes were lowered. The sugar act also increased the enforcement of the smuggling laws to try and stop people from smuggling all together. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act imposed that all printed items must be printed on stamped paper made in London and it must include the revenue stamp. This tax had to be paid for in British currency and not in colonial paper money. -
The Declaratory Act
At the same time the Stamp Act was taking away the Declaratory Act was put into place. The colonists thought this to be a victory that the Stamp Act was taken away but the Decaratory was much worse. It stated that Parliament's authority was the same in America as in Britain and asserted Parliament's authority to pass laws that were not passed by the American colonies. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonists by British regulars on March 5, 1770 in the streets of Boston. This was considered a major turning point in the beginning of the Revolutionary War. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act was passed by parliament in order to save the East Indian Company from going into bankruptcy. The way they did this was by lowering the tax on tea which also let the East Indian Company sell the tea for cheaper prices. Britain thought there was no way the colonist could protest the price of tea getting lower but, Britain was wrong because the colonist still found this as another version of taxing them. This lead to the Boston Tea Party of 1773. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party took place in Boston on December 16th, 1773. It was a political protest by the sons of anarchy against the Tea Act. Colonists dressed up has natives and dumbed tea off of a British ship and into the Boston harbor. -
The Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts was a series of punitive laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea party. They were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in throwing a large tea shipment into Boston harbor.

First Continental Congress
This was when all thirteen colonies besides georgia sent a delegate to Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia. The colonies were all together to show a combined effort to Great Britain. Their goal was to have the Intolerable Act lifted but when they were not lifted it caused them to have to meet again. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
The thirteen colonies were getting fed up with the British rule so they decided to go to war with them. The first battle was the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The main reason they started to rebel against England was because of the taxes that were being placed many things. They also wanted to be free from England because they just kept doing more and more things until the colonist finally were fed up.
