The Sugar Act
The British taxed sugar and molasses to for the debt of the French and Indian War and they did not like it so they created a slogan. The slogan was Taxation without Representation and the colonists also boycotted some British goods because they know that they could hur the British economy by boycotting. -
The Stamp Act
The British taxed stamps, licenses, playing cards, contracts, and etc. to pay for the debt and the colonists were not ok with this. They made the Sons of Liberty group and they tried to scare the tax collectors and some London merchants pressured parliament to take it back. Finally, it was repealed, but then parliament passed the declaratory act which says they have the right to tax the colonists. -
The Townshend Act
The British taxed taxed glass, lead, paint, paper, tea to pay for the French and Indian War debt. The colonists were not ok with this so they started smuggling and attacking tax collectors. To try and calm everything down British troops went to Boston to restore order. -
The Boston Massacre
