    Office of the Historian: French and Indian WarThis war started as a contest over the Ohio River valley between the French and the British, and was known as the Seven Years War in Europe. Native Americans will choose sides in this conflict. The Iroquois will form an alliance with the British, while the Huron, Algonquin and others will side with the French. This war will last until 1763 with the signing of the Treaty of Paris of 1763. The British were victorious and would now control the Ohio River Valley.
