Causes of the American Revolution

  • Proclamation of 1763.

    Proclamation of 1763.
    It was a British boundary that was up by the Appalachian Mountains. It was behind the Treaty of Paris, which ended the Seven Years War before the Proclamation of 1763. You couldn't go west of the Appalachian Mountains because the British thought if Americans kept moving west of the Mountains it would be too hard have trade and taxes.
  • The Sugar Act.

    It was a Parliament and it came from North America colonies. It passed the first law specifically for raising money for colonies. The Sugar Act also taxed numerous products, including wine, coffee, and other human resources.
  • The Quartering Act.

    The Quartering Act.
    The Act requires the colonies to have the British soldiers in barracks. If the barracks were too small they would move into stables what they use for horses. They simply said the Britain would house it's soldiers in barracks or public houses in the town.
  • The Stamp Act.

    It forced a tax on all papers and official documents in the American colonies, but not in England though. The Stamp Act was passed to help with the Seven years war finances. It was the first internal tax that was directly on American colonists.
  • The Boston Massacre.

    The Boston Massacre.
    It was one main event that led to the American Revolution in 1775. The Boston Massacre started as a street fight on March 5th, 1770, between people throwing snowballs and stones at each other. It was caused because of rising axes people were getting angry with one another.
  • The Boston Tea party.

    The Boston Tea party.
    The ships that attacked were from North America, it also wasn't originally called The Boston Tea party. They threw tea into the water, 60 American colonists threw around 300 chests of tea into the water of Boston Harbor. They did this to help with tax and too get rid of it, because they had too much.
  • The Boston Port Act.

    The Boston Port Act.
    They closed the port of Boston until some of the colonists paid for the tea that they dumped. It was the first Intolerable Act passed, there was punishment towards the Boston Tea Party Act after. It prevented stuff like the loading or unloading of any ships in the Boston Port Act.
  • The Massachusetts Government Act.

    The Massachusetts Government  Act.
    It rebuilt the Massachusetts government to give the royal more power. It ended because town officials would not be elected any longer. It was made for them to punish Massachusetts for The Boston Tea Party.
  • Administration of Justice Act.

    Administration of Justice Act.
    This act was never repealed and most other acts were repealed. It was also mostly called The Monkey or Murder Act back when it was originally published. This Act suspended governments in the Massachusetts colony by letting letting the new one takeover.
  • The Quebec Act.

    The Quebec Act.
    The Quebec Act was a British law passed in 1774. British people saw the Quebec Act as a path between Canada and American colonists. The main reason this act was a thing was because they wanted to get loyalty of the French speaking.
