    Also known as the Seven Years’ War, this New World conflict marked another chapter in the long imperial struggle between Britain and France.France and its colonists and Indian allies fought against Britain, its colonists and Indian allies.Great Britain won the war.
  • Proclamation of 1763:

    Proclamation of 1763:
    After the French and Indian War,the British Empire began to tighten control over the colonies. In response to Pontiac’s Rebellion, a revolt of Native Americans declared all lands west of the Appalachian Divide off-limits to colonial settlers.

    Also called plantation act,British legislation wanted to end the smuggling trade in sugar from the French and Dutch West Indies, also wanted to fund the colonists to pay off war debt
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    It outlined the locations and conditions in which British soldiers are to find room and board in the American colonies. The Quartering Act of 1765 required the colonies to house British soldiers in barracks provided by the colonies.

    One of the resolutions of the Stamp Act Congress was that Britain did not have the right to impose an internal tax on the colonies without representation in British Parliament. The colonists did not agree with the concept of “virtual representation” . Their views against British taxation was best represented by The Sons of Liberty headed by Samuel Adams who advocated for “No British taxation without representation”. In 1776, the stamp act was repealed.

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that occurred on at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists, were frustrated and angry at Britain for imposing “taxation without representation,” dumped 342 chests of tea, imported by the British into the harbor.This then created the Coercive/intolerable Act to punish the colonists.

Hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache,powder,and weapons kept by patriots.
