  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The proclamation of 1763 was when Britain didn't allow the colonists to settle west of the Appalachian mountains and also started taxing them to regain the debt from war.This was after the colonists helped them win in the French and Indian war.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was when the british parliament placed a new tax on all paper goods that came to the american colonists. This angered them because they had representative to vote on taxes. The colonists protested and the act stopped
  • Townshend Act

    A series of acts passed By Britain beginning in 1767 that taxed the colonies. It was named the Townshend Act because Charles Townshend had sponsored britain for the taxes.
  • Boston Massacre

    On a cold snowy night a mob of American colonists gathers at the Customs House in Boston and started to taunt the British soldiers guarding the building. The protesters called themselves patriots and were protesting the occupation of their city by British troops, who were sent to Boston in 1768 to enforce taxes. The protesters started throwing objects and snowballs at them when the british troops let loose and shot 5 protesters.
  • Taxes, More Taxes

    This was when britain enforced even more taxes leading up to the big revolution of the colonists. This included the coercive acts and the quartering act. This is when the taxes the colonists on lead, glass and other goods. Then the british had to send troops to make sure the colonists wouldn't revolt and that started the quartering act which was when the british soldiers were allowed to be able to get let into the colonists homes and eat food and sleep.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was one of the outcomes of a numerous amount of events. After the colonists had been getting taxes for years and then the boston massacre happened and then after that the Tea Act were they got taxed on tea shipment. They couldn't take it any longer. One night a large group of men, many reportedly members of the Sons of Liberty. Disguised themselves in Native American garb, boarded the docked ships and threw 342 chests of tea into the water.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts were a series of laws set up by the parliament that led to the revolution.
    1. The Boston Port Act
    1. The second act states that any officer or soldier of the British government who was arrested could be sent to England for trial.
    2. The third act is the Massachusetts Government Act, changed the charter of Massachusetts.
    3. Quartering Act, required the colonist to quarter the British soldiers.
