Causes of the American Revolution

    French and Indian WarThe French and Indian War was the final Colonial war. It was also called the "Seven Year War" The was held in Europe, India, and North America. This War was the beginning to the fighting between the 13 colinies and Great Britian, England, and France.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was the end of the French and Indian War. It resulted in a huge celebration in the 13 colonies because it withdrew many of Englands threating rules and gave the colonies more oppurtunities. The Proclamation of 1763 also created four new colonies
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was also the Molasses Act. When the Molasses Act was put into motion the colonials were required to pay a tax on importeded molasses. They were made to pay six pence per gallon. After that Act was put into place they cut back on prices
  • The Currency Act

    The Currency Act
    During the 18th century the colinies suffered major shortage of currency. This lead to no way to conduct trade. With the great decrease in trade the Currency Act was put into movement. The Currency Act took control of the currency system of early America. With the government creating a new "hard currency" the Currency Act enabled the people to create new bills or create new bills from the old currency system

    The Stamp Act was created by George Grenville rose in Parliament. It was an act to apply and grant certain stamp duties.

    The Townshend Revenue Act
    The Townshend Revenue Act placed taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea. It was made to allow a drawback on the duties of emported coffe and Coca nuts. Since there was a drawback they raised revenue

    Was an opposition to Parliments acts to impose taxes on the colonies.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    On March 5th 1770 5 colonists were killed by British regulars.
  • The Gaspee Affair

    The Gaspee Affair
    On June 9th 1772 the Gaspee ship was chasing down a merchant ship that was believed to be smuggling goods. While chasing down the ship Gaspee ran aground. The next night a group of men boarded the Gaspee and wounded the captain and set the ship on fire.

    The Tea Act was brought on by the Parliament of Great Britain. It's purpose was to reduce massive surplus of tea being held by British East India Company.

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by Sons of Liberty in Boston. On December 16th, 1773, the officials in Boston refused to return 3 shiploads of tea to Britian. The reaction to that was colonists went on thte ships and dumped it into the Boston Harbor.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Battle of Bunker Hill took place on the Charlestown Peninsula. American troops bombared the British troops. William Howe didn't lead the British troops to surround the American's with the ship, instead he led his troops up the hitt thinking that the American's would retreat. Howe was wrong.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The purpose of it was to tell that the 13 American were now indepdent states and leaving the British Empire.
