End of the French and Indian War
There was no more French power in America. They were still allowed to keep the West Indian Islands. The colonists were most likely pretty happy because they didn't have to fight anymore. -
Pontiac's Rebellion
The Indians were not very content about the English settlers taking over their territory. The leader of the Ottowa tribe, Pontiac decided to lead a rebellion. The colonists were not majorly effected until the Proclamation of 1763, which was supposed to resolve the rebellion. -
Proclomation of 1763
The Proclomation of 1763 was supposed to make it so that the American colonists could not settle beyond the Appalachians mountains.This angered the colonists. They had worked and fought for the land and felt they had a right to it. -

Quartering Act
This was an act passed by George Grenville in 1765 requiring certain colonies to provide food and lodging for the British soldiers stationed there. It kept colonial bitterness alive after Sugar Tax reduction. They protested, but there really wasn't much they could do about it. -
The Declatory Act
This act forced to colonies to the Parliament "in all cases whatsoever," confirming the Parliament's complete authority over them.The colonists wanted more self-governing, so they were once again, angered. -
The Townshend Act
This was an act placed by Prime Minister, Charles Townshend. This act was just a light tax on things like tea, paint, and glass. The colonists were angry about this, but not as angry as the sugar act made them. -
British Troops sent to Boston
The British government was scared that the law and order in Boston was in danger. To defend their law and order, they sent british troops into Boston. The soilders were very hated by the colonists. -
Boston Massacre
Eventually, the soldiers were too much for the colonists to bare. 60 colonists teamed up on 10 soldiers, taunting them and throwing rocks at them. Then, 11 of the colonists were shot, causing an uproar with the rest of the colonists. -
Repealed Townshend Taxes
The commotion caused by the Townshend taxes was low because of the nonimportation agreements.The prime minister persuaded Parliment to repeal them all to remind the colonists of the taxes.This, of course, angered the colonists a lot. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion against the tea act. Many colonists dressed up as Mohawk indians and dumped about a million dollars worth of tea in the harbor. Britain saw this as a threat to their rules. This is why the intolerable acts were made. -
Quebec Act
Parliament passed this act regarding French Canadians in territory from French and Indian War. They were allowed to retain customs like practice Catholicism. The borders of Quebec province extended to Ohio River. American colonists considered this an "Intolerable Act." The colonists didn't like Catholics, and wanted the Ohio River valley that they had fought for. They feared that their rights were being taken. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were 4 acts put into session restricting the Boston colonists. The major one being the Boston Port Act which completely shut down the Boston harbor wrecking Boston’s economy. The other three being, The Mass. Govt. Act, The Justice Act, and The Quartering Act. This act caused the colonies to start the push for Independence. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
The Battle of Lexington and Concord was seen as a big act of war by the British. The goal of this was to get rid of leaders and ammunition supply to Concord. This was it for America. They wanted their Independence!
