    The French and Indian war

    The colonist were wanting to get cheap farming land and it was in french territory. Dinwiddie sent George Washington to go and tell the French to leave. the British enforced taxes down on the colonists. This war lasted 7 years.
  • The Proclamation Line of 1763

    The Proclamation Line of 1763
    This event followed the French and Indian war. The British parliament established a boarder aligned with the Appalachian Mountains. It was established because the British won the war and did not want the French to start another war against them. They were already in debt from the last war and can't afford to fight again.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The British parliament added a 3 cent tax on sugar. They did this because they needed money to pay off the war debt from the French and Indian war.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British Parliament wanted to show they had power so they made the stamp act. It was placed on all paper items such as important documents, playing cards paper, etc. It was put on these items to show proof of purchase.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    It was the passing of laws that were designed to pay off the war debt. They placed tax on items such as tea bags, paper, glass, and paint. Colonists would do things such as boycott the items or protest against the items.
  • Boston Massacre

    Some children threw snowballs,sticks and also stones at one of the soldiers and telling him to "Go" or telling him to "Fire". Some people believe that a solider was his by a flying object and pulled the trigger. The commander continued to say Hold your fire. Some still fired and when all of the smoke cleared there were 5 dead bodies and several wounded.

    The significance of these groups were that this was the first time the colonies came together as one and worked together to overcome the uprising of England. This is when some the colonists said they were Americans.

    The tea act was created to help the east India company profit so the put a tax on tea. They also told people that the can not buy tea from any other company other than the east India company.

    About 60 to 70 men dressed up as Mohawk Indians and got on the tea ship and they dumped 342 crates of tea into the harbor. They left the ship clean and even swept up after. They just wanted to prove a point.

    The colonist had to feed and house all of the solders staying in there towns and "helping them".Also the British closed the harbor from all the ships coming in or out and with no ships meant no supplies and no supplies means no store and no store means no job and no job means NO MONEY. If they don,t have all of this stuffthey need to run their shops they have to close them and that means they cant get the money from other colonists and they cant pay back the debt they owe.

    The first continental congress was when the colonies joined to gather to discuses current issues with England and the reaction they got. People were involved such as George W, John A. , Patrick H.,John J, Samuel A., and others. It was held in Carpenters hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    70 Militiamen united to fight against the British soldiers. The commander told them to hold their fire unless fired apon. Someone did fire no own knows who fired but it was know as the sot head ound the world. The briish tried to go to the colonists owns and steel their firearms but were all hidden or destroyed.And that was the stat of the American revolution.
