Sugar Act
The Sugar Act all started in 1764 it taxed sugar and molasses. It was to raise money in the colonies. The colonist weren't ok with this new tax. Their slogan was "No taxation without represention" which meant they could not tax without the colonists approval.The communication thats resulted for the new tax where the Comittes of Correspondence the other method they used was boycotting to hurt the British economy and might convince them to repealed they new taxes. -
Stamp Act
Year it stareted was 1765 they taxed paper. Britian also needed this money to attempt to raise money by taxing the colonists. Colonists were not ok with this new tax. Secret Society that started were the Sons of Liberty they used it to try to frighten the tax collectors. London Merchants were pressuring the parliament to repeal the tax.Boycotting was the reason they were losing money. After that happen the tax was repealed but the new law that resulted was the "Declaratory Act" -
The Townshend Acts
This new tax was taxing glass,lead,paints,paper and tea .They taxed these stuff to pay the debt from the war. Colonists were not ok with this new tax. Colonist were smuggling and were attacking on the tax collectors but this was illegal and it increased . Britain send troops to control the protests. The Daughters of liberty resulted for this new tax and they also used boycotting. -
Boston Tea Party
This event still kept the tax on tea they allowed the East India Company to sell the tea for two reasons they were to not to sell directly to the colonists & for less smuggling for more tax money. Colonial merchants were against the Tea Act beacuse they were afraid that it would put them out of business. Members from Son of Liberty asked the tea ships to leave the Boston Harber. Indians dumped the Tea over the Boston Harber. The Sons of Liberty were responsible for this -
Intolerble Acts
The Boston Tea Party caused to pass the Intolerble Acts. The Boston Harbor was closed,Massachuetts colonial charter was cancelled,Trails will be held in Britian,colonists will housed British soldiers land was taken and giving to Quebec , Boston was put under military rule be General Thomas Gage. Quebec was also known as Canada right now. The Boston Harbor will only open if they paid for the ruined tea. Colonist were angry at the British. -
First Continental Congress
Georgia was not allow to send a represenitive to Philiadelphia where they all met at. If the king refused to meet their demands they will meet up and refuse their petition. It resulted to continue to boycott and they all became patriots. Their goal was to meet up with the kings demands. -
The Boston Massacre
This all started when a lone British soldier standing guard had an argument with a colonist. Five people died in the Massacre one of the persons that died was a sailor named Crispus Attucks.The person who defended the bristish soldier was John and Samuel Adams but they werent gulity for what they did.
