Nat turners Rebellion- Avery- social
Nat Turrner lead a rebellion with 60 other slaves. They killed over 50 Verginians. Many slaves that lead the rebelin allong with Nat were publicly exacuted. After the rebellion many new restrictions were put on slaves. -
Cotton gin-Economic-Izzy
The cotton gin made a lot of money. It made it easier for women to make newer clothes. As women worked they earned $2 a week. This is mainly in the south and now the cotton gin looks a lot like a modern computer. -
Missouri compromise-political-Izzy
The compromise admitted Missouri into the union as a slave state. Let Maine is a free state just so they can keep balance in the senate. And did not let slavery happen above the line with the latitude of, 36 degrees and 30'. -
Tariff of 1828
The Tariff made it expensive to buy foreign products by putting high tariffs on imported products. It put a 38% tax on some imported goods and a 40% tax on imported materials. Putting tariffs on it gave less money to foreign countries, then they bought fewer raw materials from the south. -
Compromise of 1850-political-Avery
The Compromise of 1850 was a fight over wheater the Mexican land required after the Mexican-American War was gonna be a slave state or a free state. California was made a free state where New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona would be able to decide what they would be. The compromise included the Fugitive Slave Act. The Compromise ended the slave trade in the district of Columbia. -
Uncle Toms cabin-Social-Izzy
The book Uncle Toms's Cabin was published in response to the fugitive slave act in 1850 by Harriet Breacher. Within two years of the book being published had 2 million copies were sold worldwide. There were different opinions on the book from both the North and the south. North was being surprised by what the book had in it and the South said that it wasn't actually that bad.
