    Franco-Prussian War
    Spain had an empty seat to the throne. They informed the French ambassador that they accept Prince Leopold for the throne. Germany's Otto Von Bismark wanted to make Prussia part of Germany without going to war with them. Bismark altered a telegram to France sayng that Prussia disrespected their king and France declared war on Prussia. Germany backed Prussia and they then made Prussia part of Germany. The Prussians won the war, humiliating France.

  • Austro-German Alliance

    Austro-German Alliance
    The Austro-German alliance, or the Dual alliance, was signed by Germany and the Austria-Hungary alliance. Germany's Otto Von Bismark saw this as a way to prevent the isolation of Germany and to appear undefeatable to Russia.
  • The First Boer War

    The First Boer War
    The first Boer war was between the Transvaal Boers (farmers) and the British army. After Transvaal was declared independent from United Kindgom, the Boers ambushed a British convoy. The British army Garrisons acted on this sstrike and this led to war.

    In May, Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy formed an alliance. They treaty would be renewed every now and then up to the point when the world broke into chaos.

    With the Triple Alliance in place, Russia had been left vulnerable and France had been isolated after the Franco-Prussian war. French fleets were sent to the Russian Naval base and they were warmly greeted. Things happened and they signed a treaty together forming an alliance.

    This war was between the Qing Dynasty China and Meiji Japan. The war was fought for control over Korea. The Japanese naval and army fought successfuly for the next six months, forcing China to pull out.
  • The Second Boer War

    The Second Boer War
    The second Boer war was between the British Empire and the Afikkans. The Afrikkans were Boers from two groups: the south African republic (Transvaal republic) and the Orange Free state. The south African republic issued an ultimatum declaring that British recall their troops back. Britain declined and that was when the African republic and Orange Free state declared war on Britain.

    This war was fought between Russia and Japan. Russia were searching for a warmer port on the Pacific for their navy. Since the first Sino-Japanese war, Russian and Japanese negotiations were impractical. Japan chose war to dominate Korea for they were low on resources. Russia were "leasing" a peninsula in China. Russia intended to keep the peninsula. Japn wasn't going to let that happen because they would next take control of Korea. Japan launched a surprise attack on the Russian navy.

    In 1907, Britain, France and Russia formed an alliance. Russia joined because they were vulnerable after the Russo-Japanese war and because of the Triple Alliance. France had a strong relation with Russia, so they would follow Russia.
  • Italo-Turkish War

    Italo-Turkish War
    This war was fought between Italy and the Ottoman Empire (Turkey). At the time, African states were getting conquered by nations of Europe for power and glory. Libya turned to Tripolitania and Cyrenacia to expand their territory. Italy presented the Ottoman Empire with an ultimatum demanding that Italy take over Libya. The ultimatum was declined and Italy declared war on the Ottoman Empire.

    The Balkan league, which consisted of: Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria and Montengero, waged war on the Ottoman empire (now known as Turkey). The Ottoman empire were trying to take over Macedonia. Montengero wanted to take over this land so they went to war with the Ottoman empire. The other members of the Balkan league joined shortly. When the war was over, the land that was conquered, was divided between the countries.

    The Second Balkan War
    The second Balkan war started when Bulgaria declared war on Serbi and Greece because they were unsatisfied with their share of land. Romania decided to help Serbia and Russia due to territorial disputes made by Bulgaria. The Ottoman empire caught wind and decided to help Serbia, Greece and Romania so they could take back some lost territory. Bulgaria lost the war.
  • Franz Ferdinand Assassinated

    Franz Ferdinand Assassinated
    Franz Ferdinand, the archduke of Austria, was being driven in his car along with his wife were driving back from their visit to the hospital when the driver took a wrong turn. As the driver was backing up when a man came out of the crowd and shot Franz Ferdinand in the neck. The bullet pierced his neck and penetrated his wife in the abdomen. They died shortly after. This was the final incident that led to world to war.
