constitution of 1824
The constitutional government began in Mexico in 1824 after the constitution was written based off of the US's constitution. there were also three branches of government and mexicos poor leadership led to the document not being enforced. Stephen F austin and Erasmo Seguin were involved on this. Anglo americans were not represented in this. important step for Mexico. -
Fredonian Rebellion
They tried to uphold land grants and that failed Haden Edwards tried rallying a group of settlers such as Stephen F Austin Dewitt De Leon this ended up failing. This was a dispute between the Mexican government and the Edward brothers. Haden was able to settle up to 800 families. -
Mier y Teran report
1827 president of mexico Guadalupe Victoria sent general Manuel Mier y Teran to look out for the boundaries of Texas. He discovered while he was there, the massive amounts of Anglo settlers in Texas which outnumbered the Mexicans 5:1 -
Guerro Decree
Slavery would act as a check to immigration in texas because most of the people were farmers and farmers used slaves to take in all the crops which if they were banned it would create less immigration in texas. Anglo Americans in Texas were frustrated with this rule. -
Law of April 6th 1830
This law was the result of the Mier y Teran report in 1827. This law came in place to stop the massive flood of immigration into Texas from America brought by the empresarios and their settlers. -

Battle of Velasco
Most likely the first battle between Mexico and Texas. The settlers fought Mexican forces at Fort Velasco, who tried to prevent the passage of the boat carrying the cannon.The Mexicans were forced to surrender after they ran out of ammunition. -
Convention of 1833
On the day Santa Anna became president he held this convention with 56 delegates including Sam Houston.This convention prohibited slave trade. -
SFA Goes To Mexico City
The convention of 1833 sent SFA to deliver the petition to Mexico City and argue for their approval, Santa Anna would not approve of Texas having their own government. -
The Consultation
The Consultation was held in San Felipe in 1835. This was a debate on whether Texas should keep diplomatic relations with Mexico. SFA wanted to keep relations with Mexico and William Wharton and Henry Smith did not. On November 7th they established a provisional government where Sam Houston was named commander of the army.
