French and Indian War
As the French and the British were discussing the Ohio River territory, they had ran into a problem with the Native Americans. Obviously, the natives did not want to lose there land, therefore a war was started known as the seven years of war. -
Stamp Act
The stamp act brought higher taxes on wills, newspapers, and playing cards. Due to this event, many states agreed to a boycott of British goods until the Stanp Act dissapears. -
Townshend Act
The British tax colonial imports and has troops stationed to protect customs officers. As a result, Colonists boycotted imported goods shouting "no taxation without representation". -
Boston Massacre
As the British troops were being taunted by an angry mob outside of the Boston Customs House, the troops fired and killed five participants of the mob. -
Tea Act
As the British wanted to control the land, they needed a lot more money. They had to be ready for whatever cost that may pop up so they instated the Tea Act. This heavily taxed tea all across the land, thinking that they would be making money. Well that did not go as planned, eventually, there led a revolt known as the Boston Tea Party where the British took a huge loss. -
Boston Tea Party
As we can all imagine, the French and Indian war was very costly for the British. It was so expensive that they had to start taxing exerything that they could to make money. On December 16th they drew the line as they raised the taxes on tea. As a result, the colonists dressed up as Native Americans and started dumping tea off of the boats and into the harbor. They got the British Government's attention for sure on that note. -
Intolerable Acts
This is basically where kings go insane with their power in the american history. King George the Third decides to shut down the Boston Harbor and house troops vacant private homes. As if this was not enough, General Thomas Gage placed Boston under marital. -
The First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress was established to help settle boycotts on British trades and goods. This did not last too long and eventually faded away until the The Second Continental Congress slowly made some huge differences. -
The Fight of Lexington and Concord
The British rode right up to Lexington and ran into minutemen and told them to drop their weapons. One man fired his gun at the British troops and then the troops unleashed their wrath at the men, killing 8of them while the British only suffered 1 injury. -
Publishing of common sence
Common Sence was a story published by Thomas Paine. It is about how independence would benifit America in so many ways. He created a pamphlet to support separating from Britian rule and and helping solve colonist's doubts of independence. -
The Second Continental Congress
This was a big deal for the United States. There were two ideas for the future, either independence or reconciliation with Great Britain. Even though such different ideas were appointed, Congress agreed to appoint George Washingon as the commander of the new Continental Army.
