The Yalta Conference \ Begining of the Cold War
The Yalta Conference took place in Russia. The conference was held in part by Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, and Frankilin D. Roosevelt; it was held to plan the rebuilding of the nations that were conquered by Germany during WWII. The Korean War
North Korea invaded South Korea in June of 1950. Communist China joined in with North Koreas battle. The United Nations and the United States sent troops and military aid to support South Korea. The Warsaw Pact
The Warsaw Pact was formed between the Soviet Union and seven of it's european alliances. If at anytime one of the pact members became under attack by an outside force, the members would fall under the military command of Marshal Ivan S. Konev of the Soviet Union. The Warsaw Pact was formed after NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) invited West Germany to join the organization and allowed them to remilitarize. http://www.history.com/this

President John F. Kennedy
John F. Kennedy was the United States 35th president. He was a democrat and was the nation's first Roman Catholic president. Kennedy was very active in civil rights, economic progress, peace corps, and returning America back to it's old mission; being the first nation dedicated to the revolution of human rights. U.S. involvement in Veitnam War
The U.S. became involved in the Vietnam War in hopes to stop the threat of communism in third world countries. America had supported the notion of an anticommunist government in the area since the 1950's. President Nixon extends Vietnam War to Cambodia
President Nixon approved the deployment of U.S. combat troops to Cambodia to help South Vietnamese troops fight against communist Cambodian troops. North Vietnam defeats South Vietnam
North Vietnam began to enforce it's final plan of attack "Ho Chi Minh Campaign" on South Vietnam in March of 1975. By this time the South Vietnamese were tired and retreated, hoping to gather another plan of attack. Despite the efforts of South Vietnam, North Vietnam proved victory when they broke through the gates of South Vietnam's presidential palace.

Solidarity Union
During July 1980, Poland was hit hard economically, the government raised the price of food and goods, while decreasing the opprotunity for higher wages. The poor economic conditions soon led to a strike at the shipyards in the city of Gdnask. Mikhail Gorbachev
Mikhail Gorbachev became the Soviet Union's leader in 1985. The Cold War Ends
When the Soviet Union's leader Mikhail Gorbachev took office he introduced political openness and economic reform, thus leading to redefining Russia's relationship with other countries. By 1989, majority of communist states's in the region had become noncommunist states. Despite his efforts, the Soviet Union fell apart and Gorbachev resigned. http://www.history.com/topics/cold-war
