  Carl was born in a three room cottage at 313 East Third Street in Galesburg.

  Carl quit school after graduating 8th grade to continue working.

  Some of the Jobs that Carl did after school included delivering milk, laying bricks, and shined shoes in a hotel before becoming a hobo and traveling wherever.

  His time working and traveling majorly influenced his writing.

  The Spanish War was going on and Sandburg volunteered his time at age 20.
- 
  
  Later that year he entered Lombard College and supported himself as a fire man.
- 
  
  Sandburg began to take “The Writers Club at school. “ "In Reckless Ecstasy" was published in 1904.

  Sandburg also published “incidentals” in 1907. This was his second book.

  Carl got married to his wife of 3 kids, Lillian Steichen.
