Carl becomes a fan of Charles Muntz
Carl is a young kid. He goes to the movies and watches a film about Charles Muntz, by the time the film finishes he is a huge fan of Charles. -
Carl meets Ellie
After wathing the Charles Muntz movie, Carl is walking home with his balloon when he hears someone yelling out orders Charles Munts used. Carl walks into the house where the noises are coming from and meets Ellie. Ellie gives him a grape soda badge and they become part of a club. Carl loses his balloon. To get he has to walk a wooden plank. When he gets to the middle the plank snaps and Carl breaks his arm. -
Carl promises Ellie they will have a house on Paradise Falls
Ellie visits Carl while he is recovering from the break. She returns his balloon. She shows him her adventure book. She plans to have a house on Paradise Falls. She makes Carl swear that they will have a house on Paradise Falls. -
Carl and Ellie are married
Years later Carl and Ellie are married. They build a house soon after. -
They save money to fulfil their dream
Still remembering their promise, Carl and Ellie save money to fufil their dream of having a house on Paradise Falls. But every now and then they have to break their jar to pay for things. -
Ellie passes away
Carl and Ellie get older and Carl realises that they still don't have a house on Paradise Falls. Carl goes and buys tickets. But just as they are about to leave Ellie becomes sick and passes away. -
Carl meets Russel
Carl's house is now in the middle of a building site but he refuses to move. A young wilderness explorer (Russel) who needs to get his assisting the elderly badge to become a senior wilderness explorer comes to help him. Carl sends him on a wild goose chase after an imaginary bird called a Snipe. -
Carl is forced to go to a retirement home
Just after Carl meets Russel a big truck knocks Carl and Ellie's mail box over. One of the men tries to put the mail box back on it's wooden post but Carl doesn't want him to touch it, so he bangs him on the had with his walking stick. Carl goes to a trial and is labelled a public menace. Carl is forced to go to Shady Oaks Retirement Village. -
Carl uses balloons to float his house and sets off for Paradise Falls
Carl decides he doesn't want to go to Shady Oaks Retirement Village, so he fills millions of balloons with helium and sets off for Paradise Falls. When he is in the air he hears a knock on the door. When he opens it he finds Russel. -
Carl and Russel walk to Paradise Falls
Carl and Russel arrive near Paradise Falls. They have 3 days to get to Paradise Falls before the balloons run out of helium. They walk through forest. -
Russell finds a big bird and names it Kevin
Whilst walking through the forest Russel has to have a toilet break. Afterwards he pulls out a chocolate bar but it disappears down a huge bird's throat. Russel runs to Carl saying he's found the Snipe. He decides to call it Kevin. -
Carl and Russell meet Doug
After meeting Kevin, Russel and Carl meet Doug a bouncy dog who can talk! His collar means he is able to speak. Doug says he is on a special mission. -
Carl meets his childhood hero, Charles Muntz
Just after meeting Doug, a trio of mean looking dogs come racing toward them. They take everyone back to their master, Charles Muntz. Once there they see millions of dogs who circile around them. Then Charles comes out and tells the dogs to stand down because he has noticed Carl's house and doesn't see Carl as a threat now (to stealing his bird). He has just met his hero, Charles Muntz. -
They have dinner with Charles
Charles Muntz invites them to dinner that night, and to stay with him. During dinner they begin talking about the reason why Charles is here in this place. Suddenly, Kevin cries out, Charles gets very angry as they have come to steal his bird. -
Carl realises that Charles Muntz is not the person he thought he would be
Carl knows he is in trouble, so he tries to leave but Charles sends his dogs after them. Whilst they are escaping Kevin gets hurt and can't return to her babies. Russel convinces Carl to help her get to them. -
Kevin gets captured
They are almost there when the light from Charles' blip shines down on them. They have been found. Charles shoots a net over Kevin. Carl rushes over to help Kevin. To stop Carl from doing this, Charles sets fire to Carls' house. Carl goes to his house and Kevin is captured. -
Carl places the house on Paradise Falls
Carl and Russel set off for Paradise Falls. Russel is angry at Carl for letting Kevin get captured. They finally reach Paradise Falls and place the house on top. Russel throws away his Wilderness Explorer sash, he doesn't want it any more. Carl realises he has to help Russel get Kevin back but when he comes our of his house Russel has grabbed a handful of balloons and is floating away to rescue Kevin himself. To catch up with him, Carl throws all of his furniture outside to make it float. -
Carl takes Muntz’s dirigible back to the city Part 1
When Carl catches up with Charles, Russel has been captured by Charles. Doug shows Carl a secret passageway to where Russel is being held. Just as they enter all of the dogs come in to guard Kevin, then Carl has a genius ideas. He pulls one of the tennis balls off his stick and bangs it on the cage and then throws it out the door and the dogs go after it. He locks the door. He frees Russel and puts him in the house. He then rescues Kevin. Just as the house is leaving Charles grabs Carl. -
Carl takes Muntz’s dirigible back to the city Part 2
Carl is pulled off the house onto the dirigible. The balloons are rapidly losing hellium. Charles tries to jump and grab Kevin from the house but Kevin is too quick and jumps onto the dirigible with Doug and Russel hanging on. Charles then falls to earth. Carl takes control of the dirigible and they fly back to the city. -
Russel gets his assisting the elderly badge
The day that Russel is to receive his Assisting the Elderly Badge arrives and instead of his dad coming, Carl does. When the ceremony is over they go and sit on Russel's curb and eat icecream whilst counting cars. Both are happy and content with their lives.
