American people had the consioussness to create a better school system for everyone. After defeating the British, the Amerians were feeling confident and moved forward with a system to help others. -

Horace Mann was very instrumental in leading the way for public education. His thoughts that he shared with the American people about education were that education should be free to all, not conneted to church & the same for no matter who you were. -
Brown VS Board of Education
Court case representing African American children that deserved the same education as their white conterpart peers. The decision was that spereate was not equa. This was the very begining of a long stuggle to support equal education for all. -
IDEA
This helped advocate and provide access to education for intelectually disabled students. This provided protection for the students to not be discriminated against. The law stated that the specific students had the right to education and that the cost should be free.
