Who: Europeans came out of Britain and other bits of Europeans
Why: People migrated here because of famine and political unrest
Where: The people moved to the eastern bits of Canada
Fact: Canada's population increased from about 500 000 in 1815 to about 2 500 000 in 1851 -
Post-Confederation Immigration
Who: Eastern European groups including but not limited to Ukrainians, Germans, and British
Why: Free land and more work opportunities because of the rail road and farming.
Where: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta became much more heavily populated
Fact: A treaty was made with the First Nations for the land, instead of just killing them all -
Post-War and Mid-Twentieth-Century Immigration
Who: 1 500 000 people came from all around Britain and Europe, as well as a few from parts Asia, some Aboriginal peoples and those from other areas.
Why: To live in the cities and work in the factories, WWI and II had a big impact on the habitability of other countries around the world, helping convince people to come to Canada
Where: Spread out over the provinces
Fact: 1.5 million immigrants came to Canada during the 1920s -

Why: Canada was in need of skilled workers
