Seven Years War

Wolfe's British army was defeated by Montcolm's French army at Quebec in 1759. Both the French and British had First Nations allies. The Treaty of Paris ended the seven years war and gave New France to Britian. Under British rule, French Canadians kept their property, church, language and civil law. -
Treaty of Westphailia

Hudson's Bay Company

They traded goods and furs. They mostly traded beaver furs and used the furs for hats. This was a very popular article for fashion. The Hudson's Bay Company was located in Toronto, Ontario. -
Battle of the Plains of Abraham

The British commander Wolfe, used Wolfe's Cove to get closer to Quebec City undetected. They used the plains of Abraham to fight and the British was victorious. -
Royal Proclamation

Quebec Act

The seven years war ended and the Treaty of Paris was founded. The Quebec Act respected personal property, French language in schools and respected Roman Catholic churches. -
American Revolution

The North West Company

They didn't have a license to trade in what is now Maintoba. They had good relations with the First Nations and the Metis. The North West Company competed with the Hudson's Bay Company and was very successful. -
War of 1812

Britain was impressing sailors from American ships and stopping American trade. The United States tried to invade Canada and were unsuccessful. The First Nations fought for Britain. In the end nothing changed in North America. -
Rebillion of 1837

Louis Riel

He founded the province of Manitoba and was the political and spiritual leader of the Metis people. He led two resistance movements against the Canadian government. The first one was the Red River Rebellion (1869-1870). The second rebelion he led was the North West Rebellion (1885). -
The Reciprocity Treaty

Canadian Confederation

The North West Rebellion

It was an unsuccessful uprising by the Metis people. The Metis people believed they were being failed by Canadain government about their rights, land and survival. The rebellion ended in the seige of Batoche. Which led to the hanging of Louis Riel. -
World War I

The war was fought mostly in trenches. Miliarism, Allience, Imperialism, and Nationalism were the causes of the war. World War I led to the assination of Franz Ferdinand. It ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. -
Battle at Vimy Ridge

The battle took place April 9-12, as part of an opening phase of the Britain-led Batlle of Arras. It was a divisionary attack for the French. The final attack led the Canadian Corps the capture of most of the ridge on the first day. The German forces retreated to Oppy-Mericourt line. -

World War II
