Vimy Ridge
Who: Canadian Army
Where: Northen France
What: They were able to captre Vimy Ridge when others could not
Why: To liberate France from German occupation
How: They used the method of creeping barrage and maps of no mans land so that they would not be charging in blindly
- It made Canada a stronger country because in the eyes of other countries Canada had a strong army which made them respected.
- I think if this event never happened Canada would not be as respected. -
Roaring Twenties and Dirty Thirties (1922 - 1938)
Dirty Thirties
What: It was the great depression, the economy was upside down
Why: Stock Market crashed
Where:all over Canada
How: they had a drought and and caused dust bowls , they could not pay there bank loans because they could not grow any crops, people lost their jobs
-It made Canada a stonger country because we came out of it and we realized how fragil the economy is.
-I think that if this event never happened Canada knows how not to take the economy for granted. -
World War 2 and Beyond (1939 - 1949)
The Liberation of the Netherland
How: they did a surprise attack on the Germans
What: the Canadian Army pushed the Germans out of Holland
Where: in Holland
Who: Canada, Holland and Germany
- It made Canada stronger again because it proved that we could stand our ground against the Germans, it made us feel good that we could help Liberted Holland
- If this never happenend Canada would not have as much respect and immigrants from Holland in Canada -
Canada after World War 2 (1950 - Present)
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom
Who: every province in Canada except Quebec
Where: effected all of Canada
Why: because Britian was the only one who could change it
How: all of the provinces in Canada except Quebec
-This is an important event in Canadian history because if this hadn't happenend then Canada would still be ruled by Britian
-I think if this event never happened then Canada wouldn't be a strong country.
