Creation of NATO
NATO was created in 1949 in response to the threat of Soviet Union expansionism. Canada was one of the founding members. -

Auto Pact between Canada and U.S.
The Canada—United States Automotive Products Agreement was an important trade agreement between Canada and the United States. It was signed by Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson and President Lyndon B. Johnson in January 1965. It removed tariffs on cars, trucks, buses, tires, and automotive parts between the two countries. -
Canada Recognizes the peoples rebuplic of China
Canada officially recognizes the People's Republic of China. Both countries announce the establishment of formal bilateral relations and trade/political ties quickly develop. -
