Canada's Changes 1940-1980

    WWII allowed Canada's economy and reputaion to grow but also caused our population to decline with all of the soldiers we lost.

    The Citizen Act
    Every citizen of Canada received rights that were specified in the Citizen Act such as everyone would receive the same rights as everyone and that all citizens would have the right to enter Canada even if they have lived out of Canada for a while.
  • Newfoundland joins Canada

    Newfoundland joins Canada
    In 1907 with Newfoundland struggling financially they asked britain for help and Britain responded by placing it under it's direct rule. After WWII with their economy growing decided to join Canada.

    The first of the Canadian forces joines the American in the Korean war.
  • Canada Council

    Canada Council
    In 1957 the Canada Council was esablished. It was established to promote the study and enjoyment of, and the production of works in the arts.
  • Canada Flag

    Canada Flag
    The Flag was based on Military college of Canda and it became the Symbol for Canada.
  • Auto Pact

    Auto Pact
    The Auto pact was created because Canada was spending money on buying American cars so they created the Auto pact. The terms were that American Auto companies could build manufacting plants in Canada and sell cars duty-free in both countries.
  • Order of Canada

    Order of Canada
    It was established in 1967 to recognize the achievements of outstanding merit or distinguished service by Canadians who made a major difference to Canada through lifelong contributions, as well as the efforts made by non-Canadians who have made the world better by their actions.
  • Official Language Act

    This caused French and English to be identified as both official languages.
  • Canadian Road Signs Change

    Canadian Road Signs Change
    In 1977 all road signs in Canada were changed to metric units.
