    The SS St.Louis
    The S.S. St.Louis was a ship carrying 937 jews from germany. The ship headed to Havana, Cuba however they didn't want the jews. Then the ship went north, to the USA and Canada. None exepted them. Canada could have tooken them because by the end, we only took about 4000 jews, not a lot compared to other countries. Then, the ship headed back to Europe, and back to Gemany. This event is significant to Canada because we only took in limited, we basically were steriotipical to jews.

    Battle of Britain Begins
    The Battle of Britain is an air battle. It started when Germany started invading Britain. During the battle, the germans devoloped this stratigy called the "Blitzkrieg". Later in the war, Hitler decided to turn his attention to the U.S.S.R. If the Battle of Britain was lost, we could have lost the war, making this a very important battle in WW2.

    The Formation of the Canadain Women's Army Corp is when women could join the army. This is a milestone for women in Canada, now that they can join the army. However, much did not see the battles. This Homefront event is significant because this is one of the first times women could join the army.

    The Battle of Hong Kong started right after Pearl Harbour. This battle is when the Japanese started invading the British Colony of Hong Kong. Many Canadian troops got captured by the Japanese and put into POW camps. This battle is significant because this event along with pearl harbour started the idea of Japanese Internment.

    Japanese Internment is when Canada was turning on Japanese Canadians. Japanese Canadians got sent to internment camps, while the government was selling everything left behind that the Japanese Canadians couldn't bring to internment camps, for basically a fraction of its price. The reason why this started was because Japan started expanding, making Canadians scared. This is significant because Japanese did a lot for Canada and we turned our backs on them.

    Canadian Conscription Plebiscite
    Canadian Conscription Plebiscite is when Mackenzie King gave the vote to the people if they want conscription. Majority of all English provinces agreed however, Quebec did not. 65.62% said yes, 34.38% said no, and 3.24% were invalid. King did this so he can't take resonsibility for Conscription. This is significant because conscription didn't come into play until 1944.

    The Battle of Dieppe was a battle including 5000 Canadian soldiers. This battle was said to test the german's defences. The battle was a death trap. The ships were caught by the germans at night. When the allied troops landed, they were like sheep sent to the slaughter. One major problem was that there was little to none air and water support. This battle is significant because it could of gave the allied leaders an idea which was D-Day.

    D-Day is the day in which the allied forces started invading France, trying to free it from Nazi control. The place where the plan started was in Normandy. The Canadians invaded Juno beach. Also, 150000 allied troops were involved. There was a lot of planning for this day, and before D-Day, there were actions to help on D-Day. D-Day is significant because this was the day the Nazis started to lose the war.
