Quebec becomes independent after leaving Canada - Supranational
The people of Quebec wanted to separate from Canada because their ideas and beliefs were different than those of Canada. For example, Quebec had numerous more Protestants than Canada. On the other hand, Canda was mainly made up Protestants. Also, Quebec was 80% French speaking country, while Canada was 90% English speaking.

Triple Alliance - Supranational
The three countries of Italy, Germany, and Austria-Hungary formed an alliance to stay safe from France and Russia. These three countries agreed to work together if they were ever attacked by France or Russia. This alliance was a political issue. -
Triple Entente - Supranational
This event involved the countries of Britain, Russia, and France. This alliance, the Triple Entente, was formed after the Triple Alliance. Britain, Russian, and France agreed not to attack each other. They also agreed to keep Germany from taking over Europe. This event was political/military in nature. -
Puerto Rico joins USA - Devolution
The island of Puerto Rico was surrendered to The United States military. Then, Puerto Rico became part of The United States territory. English is the official language and govenment was established: the legislative, executive and judicial branches. This event was a political/military time in history. -
Irish War of Independence - Devolution
The war that gained Ireland's independence from Great Britain was political/military in nature. The Irish Republican Army fought for their freedom against Great Britain. The battle ended in July 1921 with a truce. -
NATO - Supranational
NATO stands for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The countries involoved are important countries such as The United States of America, Canada, and Britain. The goal of this group is for the countries to support one another in case other countries attack. The type is military/political. -
Hawaii becomes 50th state - Supranational
In 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state in The United States. It is the only state made of all islands. Hawaii agreed to have self-government while still honoring the cultures of the people in the state. This event was cultural in nature (also political). -
OPEC - Supranational
OPEC stands for Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
The countries in OPEC are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. The group was formed to help control prices on petroleum products. The cause for this event was economical. -
Warsaw Pact - Supranational
This event was military in nature. The countries involved were Poland, East Germany, and of course the Soviet Union. The countries signed the Warsaw Pact that ended up strengthening the Soviet Union military.
