Cambodian Incursion

The Invasion Begins
Nixon authorizes the Cambodian Incursion. The word "invasion" seemed to strong a word. The incursion was meant to reinforce that the US would not retreat. The Joint Cheifs of Staff promised victory. -
Anti-War Protests
Student and nonstudent protestors at Kent State University began intolerable and sometimes voilent rallies. They were against the Cambodian incursion which they believed was a widening of the war. -
Kent State Tradegy
National Guardsmen fired at antiwar protestors at Kent State University. Four students were killed and several others were wounded. -
Withdrawal
American forces leave Cambodia. This created a void that forced the South Vietnamese and Cambodian armies to fill.
