Emperor Basil II invaded Bulgaria and had some ineffective strategies, but quickly learned from his past failures, and mistakes and moved forward. He died in 1025 and the war between Bulgaria and Byzantines ended four years later with the Byzantines on top. -

May 29, 1453
Fall of Constantinople to Turks
On May 29, 1453 CE, Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Turks and the Byzantine Empire came to an end. Constantinople was transformed into the Islamic city of Istanbul. The fall of the empire marked the end of the Roman Empire which had lasted nearly 1,500 years.
