He was a general for the Byzantine people. His last campaign was in 559 when the Bulgars attempted to invade the Byzantine Empire. -

Nika revolt (riots)
These riots were against Emperor Justinian 1 in Constantinople over a weeks span. They were the most violent riots the city had ever had. Tens of thousands of people were killed. -

Alexios IV led 6,000 men from the Crusader army to destroy Greek Christians capital, Constantinople. The city was controlled by the Byzantine Empire. -

Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks (Official end to Byzantines)
Happened after an Ottoman army stormed Constantinople during the Constantine XI. Their end was long and dragged out, took about 8 years for the Ottomans to finally conquer the Empire of Trebizond.
