Constantine found the new capital of the Roman empire at the ancient greeks city Byzantium it was renamed to Constantinople and would become the capital city of Byzantine empire.

The Roman empire divides in half, the eastern Roman empire is based in Constantinople and the Western is based in Rome.

Fall of Westerners

The Western Empire falls and but the Eastern survives and is now the Byzantine empire.

Justinian's rise

Justinian's reign begins. He reconquers parts of the fallen Western Empire. Constantinople is the most glorious city in europe, with 500,000 citizens. The Hagia Sofia is constructed. Justinian is the last emperor to use the title "Caesar".

Constantinoples Capture

The fourth crusade they capture Constantinople. The latin empire is formed and many Byzantine successor states. The capture of Constantinople was a blow that the Byzantines never fully recovered from.

State of Nicaea

The successor State of Nicaea recaptures Constantinople and restores the Byzantine Empire again.
