France Joins the scramble for Africa
In 1659 the french set up an outpost in Senegal called fort Louis. Fort Louis will see many battle over the year but it was a symbol that the french weer joining the scramble for Africa. The British decide that they do not like the occupation of french in the area. For a few years wars rage in that area, which had effects on local tribes and settlers. -
The British capture fort Louis again
A few mouths after the British and french get there forts back the British attack fort Louis in 1758 and gain controvert it once again. the french diced its safer to leave the area and they back out from the fighting. The fort is used bu the British as a stronghold and a slave trading post until 1779, when the american revolution begins. -
The French and British go to war
The Construction of fort Louis in 1654 by the french is not something the British are happy about. Fighting starts in 1754 with the french. as the war progresses the British capture fort Louis. In the wars they also lose one of there forts, Fort James which was located in the region of Gambia to the french. Fights rage on and both sides until they get their forts back in 1756 -
The British Gets land in north america
The seven year long war in america is hard on all party's and after 7 years of fighting the war ends. The different party walk way with areas of control. the British gain the colonies, but the war was hard on the British and the king starts setting up taxes for imports and exports in america for money. -
The Boston Massacre
After the colonies start protesting the king orders thousands of soldiers to be moved to Boston to help rain control. One day on the 5th of march 1770, A British guard is harassed by the colonies and as more and more people join against him, protesting against the British. soldiers join to support there friend , people start hitting the British with snowballs then stick and stones. A few moments later shots can be heard and several colonists are killed by British fire. -
The Boston Tea Party
As the people of the colonies refuse the taxes that the British have set up for them the king gets mad and many people start protesting the British. After a tax on tea is introduced a group called the sons of liberty who are against the British, dress up as native Americans and board a British ship loaded with tea. They pour all of the tea over the side and hundreds of people cheer in support. The British are outraged by this stunt and the king is horrified. -
The American Revolution
The colonies for a summit to see what to do about the British, They first send a letter but the king sees it as a threat and orders soldiers to start heading for america. As the colonies hear of this, they start arming them selves for war. After the first fight that signaled the start of the american revolution, many more followed with both sides finding any allies they could. -
British Colonization of south africa
As countries started colonizing parts of Africa the British decided that they wanted south Africa, an area that the dutch occupied. The British gained the cape colony in 1795, which was a strong push for them and slowly they got British settlers to immigrate there and start settling in. this slowly started to scare the dutch settlers who moved from there land. They started to leave the areas as the British spread across the areas. -
The Berlin Conference
The Berlin conference was hosted from November 1884 till February in 1885. Th conference was to help divided up the land of Africa to all the nations that were taking part in Africa. But across the entire conference there was not one representative from any tribe in Africa and there was no thought for any of the per-exquisite groups and tribes that lived in the areas. This meant the tribes were split in half in some places and destroyed in others. -
British Destroy the Dutch republics in south Africa
As the boers (name of the dutch settlers) left a few small groups remained and ended up forming 2 republics, the orange free state and the Transvaal. These 2 republics date on resource rich land that the British wanted, after short wars and fights the British gained control over the republics in 1902
