  • The Quartering Act of 1764

    The Quartering Act of 1764
    The Quartering Acts declared that the American colonists had to provide housing for the British soldiers. The colonists were not very happy with this; if other people lived with them, the costs of feeding and housing were left to them. The British were fine with this until protests started because they didn't have to pay extra for their troops.

  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act stated that for every pound of sugar, there was a tax of three shillings. The colonists weren't happy about it but didn't do anything until later.   • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act made a tax on everything that was made out of paper excluding books. The colonists were not very happy about this because they felt as though they should not be taxed without representation.   • The Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act stated that Parliament had full control over the acts placed on the colonies and that they had full say. The colonists met this with more rebellion.   • The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts required the colonists to pay for imported goods such as glass, lead, paint, and tea. The paper tax came back as well. The colonists still were not happy about the British invasions and control and therefore they discouraged British imports.
