The writs of assisstance were legal documents allowed costoms officers to enter any location to search for smuggled goods -
Sugar act
An act that decressed the tax on molasses. George Greenville hoped that the decressed tax would motivate colonists to pay taxes. -
Stamp act
An act that taxed everything that was printed. this made the colonists angry because they were getting taxed on their money and all paper. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts were laws that taxed paper, glass, and tea. This upset the colonists because they didn't believe that the British had a right to tax them, they thought that their representatives should be the only ones to tax them. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers fired on colonists killing 5 men. This made the colonists mad because they were shot at by Britain and then the soldiers killed colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was when the Sons of Liberty dumped 342 cases of tea into the Boston Harbor. The colonists did this because they didnt want to get taxed on tea. -
Declaration of Independance
The Declaration of Independance stated all of the colonists rights. It was alowed to be passed on July 2 1776.
