This is evident by writings on leaves, tree barks and even stones. News were announced by UMALOHOKAN or town crier. In addition, the most notable discovery of which is the ancient alphabet called alibata or baybayin.

    The Print Industry and Filipino Freedom
    Books, magazines and newspapers were brought to the Philippines by the ancient colonizers, mostly printed in a language that not everybody in the archipelago could speak. Del Superior Govierno was the very first newspaper in the country (1811), it was intended for the Spaniards only so it was written in Spanish. Two famous novels were Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. In addition, La Solidaridad was the most popular nationalistic newspapers published in 1889.

This era also produced a batch of the most artistic and thought-provoking films that somehow dared to show the real state of Philippines and highlighted the drive of the Filipino people to be free from their daily struggles.

    The broadcast industry in the Philippines started with the introduction of telegraph and telephone system in the country. After the Americans took over the colonial rule, an American named Henry Herman first operated a small radio station and slowly, almost all Filipino families had a radio in their homes. This period also paved way to television bradcasting. Moreover, the broadcasting industry is one of the leading sources of mainstream mass media products and services in the country.

    During this period, the Philippines officially connected to the world of the internet on March 1994 through the efforts of PHNET or Philippine Network foundation. Moreover, the FidoNet Exchange created a network to connect with each other which led to emails. Internet access before was enjoyed through internet cafes while today it can be through gadgets and etc. Indeed, the Philippines has enjoyed the various benefits of being connected to the world through internet's existence.
