The First Fleet
The first fleet had 11 ships and 753 convicts. They set sail on the 13 May 1787 from England and arrived in botany bay on the 20 January 1788. There were also lots of animals on board the ships such as horses, sheeps, swans, rabbits and cows. The first fleet is a name that is given to 11 ships. -

The Second Fleet
There were 4 convict ships,1 royal navy and 1 supply ship. Alot of the convicts died on the way to Australia because they weren’t fed and weren’t looked after on the ships. Alot of the convicts who arrived in Australia were sent to hospital and most died. -
The Gold Rush
The first gold rush was in 1851 in new south whales. Gold diggers didn’t work on Sundays and had to use a pan to search for gold. The gold rush completely changed Australia’s population in 1851 there was about 77,000 people and in 1852 the population changed to over 540,000 people. -
Ned Kelly
Ned Kelly was a famous Irish Australian bushranger who stole from only rich people and banks. He was also a horse thief. He was born in June 1857 and died in December 1880.Ned Kelly got hanged in the old Melbourne jail. -
Federation
In January 1901 NSW, QLD, SA, TASMANIA, VIC and WA formed the Commonwealth of Australia. They kept their own Government but decided they would have a Federal Government to look after the matters of Australia.
