Slaves weren't allowed to have a trial by jury. Could not testify on their own behalf. Anyone helping slaves trying to escape will be fined and arrested. -
Lemmon V. New York
a New York court frees eight slaves in transit from Virginia with their owner. DId not happen on January 1. Happened within several of month in 1852. -
John Brown Murdered Five Pro-Slavery Men
John Brown and his sons kill five pro-slavery men from Pottawatomie Creek in retaliation for the Sacking of Lawrence. -
Dred Scott V. Sanford
Dred Scott was a slave that brought to North by owner, that wanted freedom so he went to the court and was not allowed to have freedom.
