Portuguese Explorers land in Brazil
Pedro Alvares Cabral landed in Brazil for the first time. He was suprised to see that there were nativ tribes living there and he decided to claim the land for Portugal. -

Natural Resources Rush
In the early 18th century large amounts of gold were discovered in the area which led to a gold rush. Not only were there gold deposits in the country but there were also large amounts of diamonds in Tijuco, now known as Diamantina. -
Independence
Brazil declared itself seperate from Portugal. It was now recognized as its own country and not just another colony. -
World War I
Brazil officially declared war on Germany in the first World War. This helped the allies to gain more memebers. -
United Nations
Brazil is now officially a memebr of the United Nations Organization. This is important because the country now has a say in the decisions made by the world leaders. -
Time for Change
Delma Rousseff is the first woman president in Brazil. This marks a change fro the country and shows the diversity. -
The World Cup
Brazils futbol team is crowned champions of the World Cup for the first time. In sports it is an amazing accomplishment to make it to the World Cup.
