    Brazil hosted their first World Cup getting all the way to the final alongside with Uruguay. The final was played at the Maracana Stadium in Rio De Janeiro, with a record of attendance of 199,854 expectactors the day of the final. Brazil needed a draw to win the World Cup, but at the end lost the match 2-1. After the game, the whole country of Brazil was in a deep depression, with lots of anger against the national team.The players were threatened and some fanatics committed suicide.

    For the World Cup in Switzerland, the team appeared with a different image and colors to forget the tragedy of the past World Cup, using yellow and blue as their representing uniform. In this tournament they lost against Hungary at the quarter - finals 4-2. The match had a lot of polemic actions where the referee had to stop most of the players from fighting each other, it is remembered as the "Battle of Berne".

    The arrival of Pelé made the golden age of brazilian football. He arrived with only 16 years of age being a player from "Santos". He was called to play in the next World Cup being the youngest player that has ever played in this tournament. Pelé is now considered by many experts as the best football player in history.
