Gopal has to leave his home
Gopal's Baba tells him that they have to leave their home because they can't pay off their debt. This is a big event for Gopal, and he is both nervous yet excited. -
Gopal is leaving his village
Gopal is leaving his village to travel to Mumbai to live with his uncle, Jama. He and his family have to sneak out of the village early in the morning or else they will get caught and sent home. -
The train station
Gopal's family does not have enough money to make the journey directly to Mumbai by train, so instead they travel to Thane, a city nearby Mumbai. -

Baba leaves
After arriving in Thane and puttering around for a few days, Baba leaves on a seperate train to find Jama. No one realizes that this will be the last time they see him for a long time. -
Storm
A huge storm hits washing rain all over the city. It causes Gopal and his family to retreat to the train station. -
Train ticket
After Baba has left, Aai finds money for everyone to travel to Jama's house, so they get on the train. -
Arrive
Gopal and his family finally arrive in Mumbia and find Jama's house after a very long train ride. But sadly when they get their, Baba is not there. -
Jatin
Gopal meets a boy named Jatin who promises Gopal a job at his uncle's factory. -
Tricked
Gopal meets Jatin again and is eager to find a job to support his family. He quickly agrees to work for Jatins uncle, but instead is drugged by the tea he drinks and blacks out. -
Trapped
Gopal wakes up in a sweatshop where he is forced to make designs for picture frames all day with five other boys. They are treated terribly by their mean boss, Scar. -
Stories
Gopal sugest that they share stories, but some of the other boys get mad. Even though they are angry, Gopal still goes on with his story. As he starts to tell more stories, the boys are able to connect and listen to each other. -
Gopal works hard
Gopal starts working harder and faster in chances that he will be able to bolt if Scar starts to favor him and asks him to run and errand. -
Friends
Slowly, the boys become friends and share stories of their lives before they came to work in the sweatshop. They realize that they have more in common then they thought, and they learn to trust each other. -
Scar gets sick
When Scar gets sick, he asks Gopal to run to the store for him and by him sweets. Gopal willingly agrees, but while buying the candy, he slips a note to a man explaining how he and his friends are trapped in a sweatshop, are forced to make complicated patterns on picture frames, and need help. -
Rescued
When Scar ties the boys hands and mouths shut and stuffs them in the attic, telling them to be completly quiet, the boys know something is going on. Sure enough, ploice officers come by later to try to find the boys in response to Gopals note. The police officers do find the boys and rescue them out of Scars reach. -
The friends parting
Once they boys are free, they realize that they have to say their goodbyes to each other and go to their families. They realize that they might not ever see each other again, but will always remember they close bond while working in the sweatshop.
