-Passed in repsonse to colonists in Boston throwing "tea party"

1. Boston Port Act-closed port of Boston until damges paid from lost tea (about $1 million U.S. dollars)
2. Massachusettes Government Act- turned Governor's council into an appointed body
3. Administration of Justice Act- made British officials immune to punishment in the entire state of Massachusettes
4. Quartering Act
5. Quebec Act -
First Continental Congress Meets
-Happened in Philadelphia
-Began organizing a united resistance to British rule in colonies
-Parliament hoped that the acts would cut Boston and New England off from the rest of the colonies (opposite happened, other cities came to aid Boston) -
Common Sense Pamphlet Published
-Plain language appealed to many people living in colonies
-First work to ask for independence from Britain
