First casualty of the Bosnian War
One hundred thousand people attended a peace rally in Sarajevo in protest of the events in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbian snipers opened fire on the crowd killing 6 people. -
Glogova Massacre
Serbian forces massacred 65 Bosnian Muslim civilians; as a result, homes and other private property were destroyed and a big part of Glogova was burned. -
Zaklopača Massacre
At least 83 Bosnian Muslims were killed after the Serbian forces confiscated the few weapons the village owned, followed by blocking its exits. -
Ahatovići Massacre
Serbian forces massacred 47 to 60 Bosnian Muslims in Ahatovići. Serbians took 64 men and boys aged 15-75 prisoners; they were held for days and tortured them 12 days later. After being driven to the village of Sokoline, the Serbians opened fire killing 47. -
Čemerno Massacre
It was an alleged massacre of Serbians in the Ilijaš Municipality. A survivor testified that the attack was made by Croatians; about 32 individuals were killed. -
Korićani Cliffs Massacre
Over 200 Bosnian Muslims and Croatian men were murdered, which was carried out by a Bosnian Serbian police unit. -
Duša Massacre
Committed against Bosnian women and children by Croatian forces; 10 people were killed. Croatian soldiers celebrated the killing afterward by transporting the remaining residents to concentration camps and burning the village; no convictions were made for these killings. -
Štrpci Massacre
18 Bosnian Muslims and one Croatian, were abducted from a train by Serbian forces; the victims were robbed and physically abused before they were taken to Visegradska; there they were tortured and murdered. -
Ahmići Massacre
Was the killing of Bosnian Muslim civilians by Croatian troops; Croatian civilians were warned of the attack earlier and urged to flee; telephone lines were cut in order to prevent information from leaking out and roads were blocked. At least 103 were killed. -
Dobrinja Massacre
Was a attack on a youth soccer game from the Serbian side, the attack consisted of the firing of two bombs, which killed 13 people and wounded 133. -
First Markale Massacre
The Bosnian government fired a bomb into a crowded marketplace; killing 68 and injuring 144. -
Kravica Massacre
Was the mass execution of Bosnian Muslims by Serbian forces; aimed to kill all men of military age. The victims were taken and were forced to walk or moved by bus to Kravica. The massacre occurred in four warehouses; Serbian forces fired and threw grenades into the warehouses, killing between 1,000 and 1,500. -
Second Markale Massacre
The attack was carried out by Serbian forces in the Sarajevo marketplace; five gun rounds were fired into the marketplace; killing 37 and left 90 wounded. -
Erdut Agreement
Signed between Croatia and Yugoslavia, this agreement officially ended the Croatian War of Independence; named after the village of Erdut, where it was signed. -
The General Framework Agreement for Peace
This treaty officially ended the three and a half year long Bosnian War and included the exchange of different territories between the different groups in the region. After the war, one hundred thousand people were dead/missing and 2.5 million were displaced.
