b5 people were killed by followers of Charles Manson, Manson had convinced the followers to murder by using a term he coined from a beatle's song. The term was helter skelter, he said that helter skelter meant that there would be an apocalypse that is started by blacks rising up in rebellion against America. -

Roman Polanski offers $25,000 to anyone who can offer information to the arrest of the murderers of Sharon Tate, her unborn child, and the other 4 victims. This lead to several people calling and implicating that they knew who did the murder and would make false accusations progressively increasing the workload of the LAPD. This left the police no closer to a solution than when they discovered the murders. -
Evidence
A pair of eyeglasses found at the scene of the crime are finally released , this lead to a list of eleven suspects being released. The last of these suspects on the list was Charles Manson. -

Bugliosi assigned the case
VincentVincent Bugliosi is assigned the Tate murder case, he was unaware he would spend the next two years averaging around 100 hours a week working on the case. He was equipped with a body guard at all times after a threat from Manson to kill Bugliosi. -

A big decision
Vincent Bugliosi decides that in court they will bluff and indicate that they wanted to go to trial as soon as possible even thoguh they didn't have the evidence. -
The Trial Begins
The Tate-LaBianca trial against Manson and his "family" began for seven counts of murder and one count of conspiracy. -
Verdict
Manson During the penalty phase of the trial, the jury declared the penalty of death. Due to California Supreme Court ruling in 1972, the death penalties for all defendants were commuted to life in prison.
