    Manifest Destiny
    Manifest Destiny was American settlers moved across the country to spread there traditions. They were all kicked out of there homes. Helped motivate them on the war with mexico. Sullivan says that every man is equal to the same. Also says that america will be great country and will be great history. The expansion would be good opportunities to live a new life and more chances. The picture below is settlers moving out with the angel on to a new life.

    Andrew Jackson was the 7th president in the united states. His plan was running smoothly and wants every single person to know that. His plan was that white is always right. The Indians would be moves and to a place where they would not be bothered by the Governor. Some Americans did not like the idea and did not protest.2 years after the message it was called the trail of tears all because all the Indians had so many deaths along the way.The picture below is Andrew Jackson.

    Trail of Tears
    The Trail of Tears was in the 1830's . It was tragic, because native Americans were kicked out of there homes. They were all made to walk thousands of mile across the Mississippi. Some families had horses to ride or buggies if you had money. But most people had to walk. People got sick on the way with very few medications. A lot of people died and women would get pregnant. decades later white settlers want them to pick cotton for them. The picture shows the natives walking to there new homes

    Joseph Smith was the founder of the Mormons religion. Also was a american religious leader. Smith was the only person to find the golden plates. He was visited by God and Jesus.The golden plates were found in New York. An angel visits him on many different occasions . He wrote the book of Mormons. Later on Smith is exposed as a fraud from a riot in nauvoo expositor. Was in jail for 4 and a half months. The picture below is Joseph smith.

    The Mormons are Latter day saints of Christianity. Joseph Smith was the founder of Mormons. Was the first Mormon. There are temples for Mormons that only they can go into the. The first temple was in salt lake city know as the Mormon temple. Each temple was made out of marble. Can not drink tea,alcohol,tobacco,coffee or do any illegal drugs. Contributes 10% to there churches. They have a musical every year on a big hill side. The picture below shows a skit from the musical.

    During 1836 a Mexican army with thousands soldiers lead by General Antonia Lopez. But the Alamo defenders who is lead by James Bowie and William Travis had a lot less soldiers than the Mexican army. Davy Crockett the famous frontiersman also helped defend the Alamo. The Alamo held for 13 days until the morning on march 6 where the Mexicans broke through and overpowered them.Santa Anna ordered his men to leave non prisoners. The picture below is the Alamo where the Mexicans took over.

    Brigham Young was chosen to lead the Mormons and be the president until death. He lead 16,000 Mormons from Illinois to Utah. He served as a missionary in great Britain. Brigham was a an american leader in the latter day saint movement. He was place in charge of business operations with the church. He also authorized perpetual emigrating fund company. which made eight thousand move from Utah to Great Britain, Scandinavia and continental Europe. The picture below is Brigham Young.
  • Donner Party

    Donner Party
    The Donner Party was a trip to California from Springfield,Illinois. George Donner led the 87 pioneers on there journey with 27 wagons full of items they needed on this trip. On July 20 they took a shortcut by shortening there trip by 400 miles. They climbed the high sierra ridges to cross but they got stuck with 5 ft of snow. 12 men and 5 women went to cross the path to find help. two groups died. They had 87 members of the party 47 survived. The picture below is families on there wagons.

    Mexican War
    The Mexicans started a war with the Americans on american soil.President James Polk thought they had manifest destiny all over the united states. Texas gained independence in mexico in 1836. The Mexican government was boarder raids and warning any attempt will lead to war. Mexican Calvary attacked american soldiers in there despite zone, Killing about 12 men. Two days later they declared war. US troops went into mexico's boundary and then the US won the war. The picture below is the war.
  • Gold Rush

    The discovery of golden nuggets went huge in 1848. It is one of the most amazing events that happened in the 19th century. As it got bigger thousands of gold miners traveled by sea or over land California just to go find gold. The first person to find gold was James Wilson Marshall a carpenter. He found gold in the American River. At the time he was making a water-powered sawmill. Over the years they found 2 billion dollars worth of gold. The picture below is a family gold mining.
